Lava Lamp Science Experiment

This year, we’re doing many cool science experiments to teach our class. This laser-lamp experiment is the best!

This test is intended for adults. It is essential to supervise your child at all times. Your child must never take anything in their mouths.

Do not try this again in case they continue to do.

Both of my kids enjoyed themselves when they played with this. We’ve tried it several times using different colors. The kids are always amazed. It’s astonishing how long they play with it.

This science experiment is possible with just a few supplies, and you probably have all of them in your classroom or home.

Lava Lamp Experiment

Need supplies:

  • Vegetable Oil
  • Water
  • Food coloring – primary colors or neon
  • Original Alka Seltzer tablets

Color about 1/2 cup of water by using food coloring. Gel food colors can be used to create vivid hues.

Alka Seltzer tablets can be divided into three or more parts. Put the tablet in containers or small cups.

The glass should be filled to 3/4 full of vegetable oils. Pour colored water in up to 1-2 inches above the liquid level in the cup.

It’s not required to overflow. It’s impossible to conduct this as an explosive experiment unless you really want it. This is the reason I prefer to perform the experiment on the tray. Cleanup is fast.

Incorporate the Alka Seltzer tablets to the cup. It is not recommended for children to place the tablet in their mouths.

What is the reason? This Science Experiment does what it says?

Food coloring water-soluble stops the water from mixing with the oil, and also prevents the oil from changing color. Alka Seltzer reacts with the water to produce carbon dioxide bubbles.

Bubbles stick to the colored water blobs, and then move them upwards to the top. The water blobs that are colored fall to the bottom when the bubbles pop.

This lava experiment is guaranteed to be a hit with your children. It’s possible to be asked to repeat my experiment.
